Welcome for new community law & mediation resource in Limerick

Legal rights group FLAC (Free Legal Advice Centres) today warmly greeted the launch of Limerick Community Law and Mediation Centre. This is the first service of its kind outside Dublin.

"FLAC is particularly pleased to see this new resource for the people of Limerick. It is a very welcome addition in the existing network of independent law centres," said FLAC Director General Noeline Blackwell who attended the launch.

 "The principal support for the new Limerick Community Law and Mediation Centre comes from  Northside Community Law and Mediation Centre, based in Coolock in Dublin.  Through our Public Interest Law Alliance (PILA) project, FLAC has been an enthusiastic supporter of this initiative from its inception and we are proud to be associated with it," she added.

 The new Law Centre will offer free legal information, advice, advocacy and representation services to families and individuals living in communities identified for regeneration and other socially and economically disadvantaged areas in Limerick.

 It will also provide a mediation service for dispute resolution as well as empowering the local community through  education, research and campaigning. It was formally  launched today by Minister for Housing, Jan O'Sullivan TD, having begun its work in January of this year.
