Review of Event

FLAC hosted a visit from eminent Indian human rights activist and lawyer Colin Gonsalves SC on 6 September 2006. Colin works with the Human Rights Law Network (HRLN) in India providing legal information and representation to people living in extreme poverty.Two information sessions were organised on issues where Colin had particular experience and knowledge. The first session held jointly with Community Legal Resource dealt with working with law in the community, while consultants from CLR will present an outline of work on developing a strategy for Public Interest Law in Ireland. The second session saw Colin talking about his experience with strategic litigation in the Indian courts, particularly around human rights issues.
