Legal Advice Centres
Volunteer lawyer Michael O'Dwyer conducts a consultation at the Free Legal Advice Centre in Clondalkin, September 2009FLAC operates a network of part-time Legal Advice Centres throughout Ireland in conjunction with the Citizens Information Board. These advice centres are open in the evening and the service is provided by volunteer lawyers (sometimes called advisors).
FLAC operates directly 23 Dublin Centres and and two centres in Cork in conjunction with Citizens Information Centres. All other advice centres are operated independently by the CICs. (Scroll down to the bottom of the page for information on FLAC's specialist centres in family, immigration and employment law.)
If you would like to attend a legal advice centre, please select your county on the map to get to a list (you can also choose a centre on a Google map - click on the '+' sign to zoom in). You will have to phone some cenres for an appointment - this is indicated on the list, but for others you will be seen on a first-come, first served basis.
Please bring along any documentation or correspondence which might help the advisor to assist you. The advisor will help you to establish whether there is a legal solution to your problem, explain what options are open to you and direct you to where you may obtain further assistance where appropriate. You should note that if you have already consulted a solicitor about the same matter, FLAC is not in a position to second-guess that advice and therefore our advisors cannot give offer guidance on that matter.
Many of our callers will be referred on to the Legal Aid Board where they may obtain further advice and representation. Legal Aid applicants are required to satisfy a means test in order to obtain legal services.
